THE BEST AB
EXERCISES
There are a ton of different exercises out there that you can do,
but for the very best ab exercises that are the most effective are not really that complicated. In fact, you
don't need a bunch of fancy equipment, and you can pretty much do them right from home.
1) Exercise Ball Crunch: With this exercise you
will need an exercise ball. They are very inexpensive and can be purchased at any retail sports outlet
or even discount stores, such as Walmart, Kmart and Target.
To do this exercise
you will sit down on the ball, and carefully roll yourself forward on the ball until you can lay back onto the ball
with your feet flat on the floor and your back parallel to the floor.
Then, you cross your
arms over your chest and slowly lift your torso off the ball, crunching your abs together. Do these exercises
forward, then to change it up, roll from side to side - crunching yourself so that your elbows rotate alternately
towards each knee.
2) The Bicycle: With this exercise you just need
to lay on the floor, and start with your hands behind your head. You then just lift your feet off the floor
and start to pump your feet in a circular motion as if you were riding a bicycle. At the same time, alternate
each elbow to the opposite knee.
3) Vertical Leg Crunch: This exercise is
excellent for abs and obliques. Lay on the floor and put your feet
in the air, crossing them at the ankles. Place your hands behind your head. Then you slowly lift your torso off the ground, hold in the up position for 2 counts and then
gently lower yourself back down. You can also alternate opposite elbow to opposite knee on this
exercise.
To change it up a
bit, try pausing half-way up and make it a 2-count up and a 2-count down motion.
4) "Captain's Chair": This exercise would need
to be done at the gym on the Captain's Chair piece of equipment. This
exercise is simple, yet effective. You just prop yourself up on your elbows on and hold the posts in your
hands while you hang your legs down. You then slowly lift your legs, bending them at the knees, so that your
knees come up to your chest and then slowly lower them back down.
You can then lift
your legs vertically in front of your for a more intermediate exercise.
Although you
may have seen these exercises before, these really are the best ab exercises to get the ultimate
results.
Doing these
exercises along with some cardio and a proper diet will help you to achieve your ultimate fitness
goals.
